… were awarded the Mary L. Schunder Award for outstanding first-year medical students in the disciplines of anatomy and cell biology. The award, which was first given in 1995, is named for Dr. Mary Schunder, a member of TCOM’s original faculty and founding chair of the Department of Anatomy.

… were awarded the Welch Scholars Grants for 2007 from the American Osteopathic Foundation’s Board of Directors and the Committee on Educational Grants. The award is given for academic achievements and commitment to osteopathic medicine.

Robert Wright, associate director of Biomedical Communications
… was elected president of the Association of Biomedical Communications Directors.  His two-year term will start in 2008.

The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine faculty
… were praised for their commitment and hard work by TCOM Dean Marc B. Hahn at a reception in celebration of TCOM students’ excellent performance on the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination. Dr. Bruce Dubin, associate dean for medical education, also received special recognition for being named Medical Educator of the Year by the American Osteopathic Foundation.

Jean Tips, Marketing & Communications
… is now vice president of marketing & communications. Her promotion from assistant vice president was approved by the UNT System Board of Regents last month. Congratulations!
