Employees in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
… shed some pounds during their annual weight-loss contest. This year’s contest pitted the Clinical Team vs. the Academic Team. Participants weighed in weekly and after 11 weeks, the entire group lost 126 pounds. The Academic Team came out on top, losing 66.5 pounds collectively, and the biggest individual loser was Dayton Atwood.

Dr. Peter Koulen, professor in pharmacology and neuroscience
… was awarded $14,100 for his research, “Endocannabinomics: Disease Relevance and Therapeutic Potential of Neuroprotective Lipid Metabolites in Mammalian Stroke Models.”
Dr. John Schetz, associate professor in pharmacology and neuroscience
… was awarded $12,000 for his research, “Development of a Coating for the Controlled-release of Novel Anti-infective Agents Against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus.”
