FORT WORTH, Texas—Marc B. Hahn, DO, dean of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, will lead the national Pain Care Coalition for the next two years.
Dr. Hahn serves on the coalition as part of his role as the current president of the American Academy of Pain Medicine. As the chair, he will work with representatives from the American Headache Society and the American Pain Society to advocate responsible pain care policies and legislation.
The Pain Care Coalition keeps abreast of the current political climate by networking with key political officials and providing input on legislation. The coalition addresses quality of care and access to care issues through legislative, regulatory, and research mechanisms.
Prior to coming to the health science center in 2001, Dr. Hahn was a professor of anesthesiology and director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship Program at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He was also chief of the Pain Medicine Division at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Hahn is board certified in anesthesiology with sub-specialty certification in pain management.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his medical degree from Des Moines University. He completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at Walter Reed Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in pain management through both Georgetown University and the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health.
