The Osteopathic Research Center, founded in 2002, focuses on the clinical efficacy and mechanisms of action of osteopathic
manipulative treatment (OMT).
In 2011, the ORC completed the 455-subject, NIH-funded OSTEOPAThic Health outcomes In Chronic low back pain Trial (OSTEOPATHIC Trial) through its clinical research unit. To our knowledge, the OSTEOPATHIC Trial is the largest clinical trial to date involving OMT.
In addition to the clinical studies conducted at the center, researchers also conduct mechanistic research to assess the response to OMT at the molecular and cellular level.
Faculty at the ORC have been recognized for their research accomplishments through national awards, invitations to present at national and international conferences, and by serving in consultative roles with such organizations as the World Health Organization.
